Dusting off old blocks again. Sewing borders on now to begin the quilting stage. This was a block of the month called Twelve days of Texas. ( not Christmas )

Finally finished

Let me tell you this quilt has taken FOREVER to finish..  these are blocks from years and years ago I started when I was first learning to quilt.  I put them together this fall and finally finished the binding this weekend.  All washed up and fluffy flannel  to cuddle with

Spring yard work continues

Been in the yard a lot lately pruning, tilling, weeding and mulching  can’t pass it up the weather has been amazing – it’s that time of year to cut everything way back

and prepare for the season of growing. Hoping all the sago palms and plants return after extreme drought last year.

Apple Butter time -

As I continue to learn about jams I decided to try apple butter this afternoon.  I must

say this recipe is delish and so much fun to make.   Batch one – done and I heard click, click and click.

which means it sealed and ready for down the road.  We have always loved apple butter from the days

of our childhood.  Enjoyed making this  very much……

Weekend at Ink’s lake

It has been way to long since we have gotten out camping.  Friday night after work we headed north to meet

our friends.  Perfect weather …..     We started off the morning with a walk up to Devils Waterhole and then kept

climbing.  It is really cool up there where the water just barely is streaming into the lake  such a peaceful place.

On another walk we went past the rental cabins and then checked out this art on the camp store out of paddles.

Way cool.   Lots of paddle boats and canoes to rent if your interested.

Maggie & Mason

We thank Barrett, Jennifer, Paisley and Parker for taking great care of Maggie while we were gone.  We got lots of great photos from their household

on her fun weekend.   Also thanks to the Shannon’s & Stacer’s for a fun visit.

Here is Maggie hanging out on Jen’s new quilt……. I must say she needs grooming and brushing.

When we got back I was craving home made soup – and salad….     here are the results.    I browned ground white turkey breast, onions and a multitude of fresh

veggies.    cornbread and salad -        yummy

A run up to Mason, Texas

This last weekend Ron and I took a run up to Mason, Texas and camped in a park called Fort Mason City Park.  We parked the bus and headed to a ranch

where our daughter Ashley and her family plus our friends Dana and Bud were staying.   It was so pretty and such a retreat from SA

I must say I must improve on carrying around my camera because when we were riding 4 wheelers I missed amazing view shots.

bummer -   The campground is nice and roomy full of pecan trees that of course look naked in the winter.

Here are a few of Adam as we hung out in their cabin/room -  Aaron  & Ashley  must have been busy since I got only Alan, Grandpa and Adam.

On the dirt road headed between the campground and the ranch I saw this sign about the bat caves…..hmmm maybe next time check it out.
